OGFTZ Records Landmark Presidential Visit and Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency

The Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) welcomed former President Olusegun Obasanjo on a historic visit that further solidifies the Zone’s position as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth. The visit, which took place in March 2025, coincides with OGFTZ’s ongoing efforts to foster investment, create jobs, and strengthen relationships with host communities.
Obasanjo Commends OGFTZ’s Industrial Growth and Impact
The former President was received by Dr. Hafsat Oduwole Balewa, Chairman of OGFTZ, Dr. Hanson Huang, General Manager, members of the executive management team, and traditional leaders from the Igbesa and Ejila Awori communities.
During the tour, President Obasanjo visited major manufacturing plants and infrastructure projects within the Zone and lauded the remarkable progress made since its establishment.
“The Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone has become one of Nigeria’s strongest models of industrial collaboration,” Obasanjo said. “The creation of over 10,000 jobs, investment in infrastructure, and training of local manpower is a testament to the power of partnerships like these. I urge the management team to sustain this momentum and continue expanding into new sectors that will enhance Nigeria’s industrial self-sufficiency.”
President Obasanjo also noted OGFTZ’s ongoing empowerment programs for the surrounding communities, including skills development for youths and persons with disabilities, and the building of roads and other critical facilities in Ogun State.

In a vibrant display of community solidarity and youth engagement, the Ogun‑Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ), through its management company China-Africa Investment FZC, hosted a special Children’s Day Football Competitionfor 18 government primary and secondary schools across the Igbesa and Ejila Awori communities.
During the event, Mr. Cai Fanguan, Assistant Manager of China-Africa Investment FZC, emphasized the holistic goal of the initiative:
“This event is not just about football. It is a platform to promote teamwork, discipline, and community spirit. Today’s donation of musical instruments will help address the long-standing need for functional assembly equipment in all 18 public schools across Igbesa and Ejila.”
His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Teslim Nasir, the Olodan of Odan Abuja, praised OGFTZ’s commitment:
“This is a laudable contribution to the growth of our host community. We encourage students to take their studies seriously and make the most of opportunities like this.”

OGFTZ Strengthens Security Partnership with Visiting Commissioner of Police

In a move reflecting its commitment to maintaining a safe and stable business environment, OGFTZ hosted Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo and his delegation for an official familiarization visit to the Free Trade Zone.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Kevin Liu, Deputy General Manager of China-Africa Investment FZC, expressed appreciation for the professionalism of the police officers assigned to the Zone:
“The professionalism of our security partners underscores the peace the Zone has enjoyed under CP Ogunlowo’s leadership.”
Mr. Stephen, the Zone Administrator, echoed the sentiment, highlighting Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority’s (NEPZA) role in enhancing economic growth through its oversight of SEZ structures. CP Ogunlowo reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between security agencies and economic stakeholders, affirming:
“Ogun State is one of Nigeria’s most industrialized regions in part due to contributions like those of OGFTZ. We are committed to sustaining peace, which is the lifeblood of business.”
